Internship

What We Are Looking For:

  • Be empathetic, non-judgmental and a good listener
  • Pass a SLED check and reference check before beginning internship
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, as well as, a compassionate and professional disposition
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Office Publisher, and Word
  • Flexibility to participate in occasional after hours functions. (hours will count toward internship)
  • Self-Starter– must to be highly self-motivated and able to accomplish assigned tasks with assistance from the Foothills Alliance staff
  • Team Player– Expected to collaborate with other members of the Foothills Alliance staff and will need to be comfortable filling various roles. You will need to be able to listen, receive input from others, and assert your ideas and critiques in a team environment.
  • Honesty and Integrity – many of the services that we provide are confidential and it is important that the intern is able to maintain and respect confidentiality

Reports to: Supervisor of assigned program area

Purpose of Internship:

  • To gain practical knowledge and experience in the human service and non-profit areas
  • To apply experience toward an internship and use that knowledge in determining future career paths

Job Relationships:

Frequent contact with staff, volunteers, public, and survivors of sexual assault/abuse

Responsibilities include but are not limited to (responsibilities will depend on the area you choose to intern in at Foothills Alliance):

  • Attend volunteer training( all 6 sessions)
  • Sign up for at least two nights of call each month during your internship
  • Maintaining electronic and paper filing system
  • Data entry of client files
  • Database management
  • Compiling program evaluation data
  • Web research
  • Creative development of marketing materials (brochures, flyers for events, etc.)
  • Shadow Direct Services Coordinator
  • Shadow emergency room visits (during office hours)
  • Assist with crisis calls (during office hours)
  • Attend at least one volunteer meeting during internship
  • Attend all meetings and/or trainings assigned by your supervisor
  • Shadow school and community programs
  • Assist with any agency projects (fundraising events)
  • Various clerical responsibilities
  • Assist program supervisor as needed
  • Research on the internet for updated information (i.e., stalking, sexual harassment, sexual assault, self-esteem, peer pressure, community resources, etc.)
  • Assist Foothills Alliance staff in other areas as needed

Hourly Requirements:

  1. Negotiable depending on availability, school schedule, etc.
  2. Intern and supervisor will develop a set schedule for the length of the internship
