WALK A MILE 2018
Foothills seeks your participation to bring attention to concerns that are often hidden and silenced! We invite you to take a stand against sexual abuse and assault in our communities by participating in the Walk-A-Mile Event.
Walk-A-Mile derives its name from the slogan “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes”. The walk is not a mile, so much as a trot. Groups of men sport heels and carry signs with sexual assault statistics. It’s a spectacle that bystanders cannot miss. Foothills has a supply of shoes for men to choose from. However, participants are encouraged to decorate and bedazzle their own as well. There are awards for the largest group of men who walk, and for the best decorated shoes. The walk provides ample opportunities for fun, friendly competition.
Participating in Walk-A-Mile is simple! Whatever each individual or group raises, acts as their entry fee. Most importantly, all collected funds assist victims by ensuring that services at Foothills Alliance are available, free of charge. You may register as an individual or group at the Foothills table at the event. Or you may download the registration form here to register in advance. Completed registration forms may be sent to Annette.caudell@foothills alliance.org. Walk-A-Mile will be held in Ram Cat Alley in Seneca on 4/12/18 at 7:00 pm.
The opportunity to advocate and raise awareness doesn’t end with Walk-A-Mile. April is also Prevent Child Abuse Month.
